Artificial Intelligence for Good

Intellectual Ventures Laboratory and Global Good are focusing on ways to use Artificial Intelligence to address common healthcare infrastructure problems in low and middle income countries where a lack of trained medical professionals and hospital infrastructure are the cause of most poor health outcomes.
They are working to develop AI-based diagnostic aids and decision support systems. These will allow healthcare workers with a few weeks of systems training to make better decisions in critical situations.
Guest Speaker Benjamin Wilson, Director of the Center for Intelligent Devices at Intellectual Ventures Laboratory will talk about the work he is doing in the area of AI and its applications for global health and global development.

The Center for Intelligent Devices focuses on translational hardware and software research for global health and global development applications, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms. This includes groundbreaking research on artificial intelligence for biomedical imaging applications. Dr. Wilson has extensive research experience with optics, imaging, spectroscopy, ultrasound, and advanced algorithm development. Dr. Wilson received his Ph.D., MS, and BS degrees from the University of Washington in Electrical Engineering. Prior to working at Intellectual Ventures Laboratory, he held positions at the University of Washington and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He holds more than 20 patents.
